Online KS2
science tutoring
We inspire through science
Durings years 3-6, your child will be given a range of scientific experiences to enable them to raise their own questions about the world around them and then carry out experiments to find out the answers.
From years 3 to 4, children will learn how to gather and record data and report on their findings. From years 5 to 6, children will develop these skills further, learning how to draw conclusions from their results and how this data can be used to predict how the world operates.
These fundamental skills lay the foundation for later study of the scientific method as well as equipping them with the skills to explore the world around them and understand that things are not always as they may seem.

Our tutors can teach all elements of the National Curriculum for key stage 2 comprising years 3 - 6 (ages 7-11).

Year 3 (ages 7-8)
Plants
Identifying parts of plants, needs of plants and their life cycle.
Animals
(inc. Humans)
Identifying how animals obtain nutrition and defining skeletons and muscles.
Rocks
Comparing rocks, looking at fossils & understanding how soil is made.
Light
Recognising how light is reflected, how shadows are formed and can change.
Forces & magnets
Exploring attraction and repulsion of magnets, magnetic materials and the two poles of a magnet.
Year 4 (ages 8-9)
Living things & their habitats
Classifying living things and recognising changing environments.
Animals & humans
Describing basic parts of human digestive system, identifying teeth and food chains.
States of matter
Comparing solids, liquids and gases, observing changes in state including evaporation and condensation.
Sound
Learning about the creation of sound through vibrations and changes in pitch & volume.
Electricity
Constructing series electrical circuits, identifying basic components and understanding conductors and insulators.
Year 5 (ages 9-10)
Year 5 (ages 9-10)
Living things & their habitats
Describing the life cycles of a mammal, amphibian, insect and bird.
Animals & humans
Describing the changes as humans develop to old age.
Properties & changes of materials
Describing dissolving, separating and reversible changes.
Light
Learning about the movement of the earth, sun and moon and how this relates to day & night.
Forces
Exploring gravity, air resistance, water resistance and friction.
Year 6 (ages 10-11)
Living things & their habitats
Classifying microorganisms, plants and animals based on similarities & differences.
Animals & humans
Describing the functions of the heart, blood vessels & blood as well as the impact of diet & exercise.
Evolution & inheritance
Examining how fossils demonstrate evolutionary changes and how animals are adapted to their environments
Light
Recognising how light travels in straight lines and explaining shadows.
Electricity
Analysing the function of lamps, buzzers, cells and switches in a circuit and their symbols.
Tutoring in science doesn’t just nurture an education in the natural world, but also improves core skills in reading, writing, discussion, maths and critical thinking.
Unlike in a group class, one-to-one tutoring allows children to have the space to build their confidence and self-belief at their own pace. Our specialised tutors have the extensive tutoring experience necessary to make sure your 7 to 11 year olds are reaching these important milestones in their formative years in a fun and engaging way.
If you’re looking to spark your child’s excitement in science, why not book a trial lesson with us today.
