Science tutoring for children aged 5-7
We inspire through science
During years 1 and 2, your child will be learning about the importance of asking questions regarding the world around them, carrying out simple experiments and using their observations to suggest answers to these questions.
These fundamental skills lay the foundation for later study of the scientific method as well as equipping them with the skills to explore the world around them and understand the objects, plants and animals they might encounter day to day.

We have tutors who specialise in teaching all elements of the National Curriculum for key stage 1 comprising years 1 and 2 (ages 5-7):
Meet Dave Harris
Dave Harris is a passionate science teacher who teaches science lessons online as his full time job.
He focuses on teaching younger children as he believes children who develop a love for science, at a young age, go on to be the best scientists! At WMA, we aim to match specialist teachers with children we think will benefit from their specific teaching style.
We don’t believe that qualifications are enough to be a great teacher. Some tutors have more experience teaching older children and some are more experienced and more suited to teaching younger children. Through our rigorous training and interview scoring process, we discover which teachers are most suitable for each child. There should certainly not be a “one size fits all” approach to teaching and online tutoring!
What do we teach 5-7 year olds who want to improve in science?
Plants
Identify common plants and trees and describe their basic structure.
Animals
(inc. Humans)
Identify and describe the structure of common animals such as fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. Describe the basic parts of the human body.
Everyday Materials

Seasons
Observing changes in weather and day length across the 4 seasons.
Tutoring in science doesn’t just nurture an education in the natural world, but also improves core skills in reading, writing, discussion, maths and critical thinking.Unlike in a group class, one-to-one tutoring allows children to have the space to build their confidence and self-belief at their own pace.
Our specialised tutors have the extensive tutoring experience necessary to make sure your 5, 6 and 7 year olds are reaching these important milestones in their formative years in a fun and engaging way.
I wanted to say that Jess has been incredible! Riya has already jumped 2 grades in her Chemistry. Jess has taught Riya in a few weeks what she has been unable to grasp in a year at school. Very lucky to have found her. We are very happy with the service. Thank you."
